Life-Long Learning

I have now read a few stories about successful business leaders and entrepreneurs who have been successful because they have developed a habit of life long learning.  This concept has been a little bit hard for me to really consider.  I was a fast learner when I was younger, then I got married and started my family.  For the last 20 year that has been my focus.  When I felt the prompting to return back to school I thought that I would learn new things for a couple of years while I finished school, and then I would use that knowledge in a future career.  As I have contemplated what it means to be a life long learner my perspective on this entire situation has changed.  I did not put my learning on hold for 20 years, but have actually been learning on an accelerated level, just not academically.  I learned how to sooth a teething child, how to potty train.  I learned the follies of pre-teen boys, how to calm a broken hearted teenage girl.  I can cook much better than before, I can clean a house quicker than 5 kids combined.  I can manage a family's finances, save for a rainy day, and develop a weekly meal plan.  The list goes on and on.  What I need to do now is take what I have learned and apply it in my next opportunity.  If I can develop this habit, I believe that I can be a successful leader in business, just like I have been a successful leader at home.

As I have tried to apply past lessons, I have been prayerful about what the Lord wants me to do with my education.  As I asked for His help I had two separate entrepreneur opportunities come across my desk.  They are both exciting prospects and I am grateful for the skills and knowledge that I have learned in this class.  I will try my best to apply that knowledge and learn something new wether theses opportunities pan out, or fizzle out.
